Desire's Tour Dates

Portuguese Doom Metallers Desire have just announced a new set of live dates for this year on Portuguese soil:
10-06-09: Porto Rio, Porto;
03-07-09: Associações de Músicos de Faro, Faro;
04-07-09: Casa da Cultura de Beja, Beja;
11-07-09: Nyktos Bar, Figueira da Foz;
19-12-09: Associação Cultural de Vila Maior, Viseu;
The band is also playing the Ermal Festival, at Vieira do Minho, in August, and there plans to play during September and October in Lisbon and the Azores (respectively).

Onirik's New Full-Length
Portuguese Black Metaller Gonius Rex has just released his sophomore record. Entitled After Centuries of Silence, the album is said to feature a "better necro production and more elaborate artwork" and, as before, it is being distributed by Nightmare Productions.

Bal-Sagoth's Bassist Leaves
Symphonic Extreme Metallers Bal-Sagoth have just announced the departure of long-time bassist Mark Greenwell from the ranks. However, the identity of the new member will be revealed soon.

Corpus Christii Announces Split Release and Shows
The band has just announced that they're working on a new 4-way 10" split release with BlackwindS, Setherial and Morte Incandescente. It will feature a track of each band and it's due to come out later this year. They are also about to do a mini-tour in September through the Balkans, along with Slovenia's Somrak.
Meanwhile, drummer Menthor has been confirmed to be a full-time member, and a new full-length is currently being assembled.

Side B Bar, in Benavente, Portugal, will be hosting a rare event featuring Portuguese metallers The Firstborn, Paranormal Waltz (a rather historical Portuguese underground band) and VS777. The show's taking place next April 18 at 10:15 p.m., and doors open at 9:30 p.m.

Susperia's New Album Release Dates
Norwegian metallers Susperia have confirmed the release of their fifth full-length album, Attitude, via Candlelight Records on May 18 in Europe and on the 19 in U.S.A./Canada. Recordings took place in late 2008 at Cyrus and Strand Studios in Norway, having been later mixed at Fredman Studio, in Sweden, by both Henrik Udd and Fredrik Nordström. The album is the band's debut for the label, and it features guest vocals from Dimmu Borgir's Shagrath and Testament's Chuck Billy.

Orcivus' New Vinyl and Merchandise
Hiberica Records has just announced the release of a brand new overdue T-shirt featuring artwork from the band's debut Consummatum Est, as well as the album's vinyl version. The label has also announced the likelihood of a live performance from the band in Norway next month.

Desire Releases EP
Portuguese Doom Metal legends Desire have recently made available a brand new EP entitled CrowcifiX. This work comprises two original new songs, plus a live rendition of Frozen Heart... Lonely Soul..., in a total of 30 minutes of "intense and powerful despair". It comes available on both CD (digipack) and vinyl (12").

Supernal Music's Alex Kurtagic has recently announced the upcoming publication of his first novel, which is due be released by the end of March. Marilyn Manson's New Album and Video
According to a press-release, Marilyn Manson's new album is entitled The High End of Low. Currently being mixed for a tentative May release, Manson has described it as "a self-described state of being that I'm in. You're going to be fucking freaked. It's the shit." Manson will also be shooting the album's first video this month, for the song I Want to Kill You Like They Do in the Movies, of which he revealed that "it's nine minutes long and severely sadist. Basically, it's murder, sex, death, the end."

Sarah Jezebel Deva's Solo Effort
Known from her work with Britain's Cradle of Filth and other acts like The Kovenant, Mortiis and Therion, Sarah Jezebel Deva continues the work on her debut record. Entitled A Sign of Sublime, the album is due to be released later in the year and so far, the drums have been laid down by Trigger the Bloodshed's Max Blunos.

Autopsy Rereleases Album
Severed Survival, the band's seminal debut album, is being rereleased by Peaceville Records on February 23, as a two-disc special edition, featuring not only the band's trademark classic, but also rare and previously unheard versions of tracks from the early days, but most essentially two brand new tracks recorded last Autumn, especially to mark this release. The songs are also available on the extremely limited Horrific Obsession 7".

Carcass Re-Issues Sophomore Album
Death Metal legends Carcass have just made available a brand new re-edition of Symphonies of Sickness, their second album for Earache, in North America. Being the last of the crop to be re-released, it is out now as a limited edition CD and DVD set, housed in a deluxe digipack with extra artwork, but featuring the original gore artwork inside. It includes six previously unreleased bonus tracks, along with the second part of a mini-documentary series as bonus video material.

Mithras Announce New Frontman
Following the departure of long time Mithras' frontman Rayner Coss from the band last December, Mithras have just announced Sam Bean (formerly of The Senseless and The Berzerker) as their new vocalist and bassist. According to Mithras "Sam was the only person asked to audition for the spot and dominated the tracks chosen for the audition with his brutal vocal delivery and deft bass work."

The Haunted Release Double Compilation
The new two-disc compilation from the Swedish heavyweights is set to be released by Earache Records next March 29 in Europe and next April 7 in America, with material ranging from 1998 to 2003. Entitled Warning Shots, the first disc will contain 28 songs from the group's roster, and the second, rare and unreleased songs. The booklet is set to feature an extensive interview with bass player Jonas Bjorler, reflecting on the compilation's material.

Deicide Signs with Century Media Records
Glen Benton and Co. have just signed a new worldwide deal with Century Media Records, which will release the band's upcoming studio effort (still on the works), being currently produced at Sanford's Audiohammer Studios, in Florida, with produced Mark Lewis, who has already worked with Chimaira and The Black Dahlia Murder. No release date has been set as of yet, although the record's expected to be out by summertime.

Samoth Launches New Project

Known for his work with Emperor and Zyklon (among others), Samoth has just announced that, since last Spring, he's been working alongside his Scum colleague, Cosmocrator (of Mindgrinder's fame) on an Extreme Metal-based band project. Epping Forest Headlines Hard Metal Fest and Announces Endorsement
The band's confirmed to close the fifteenth edition of Portugal's Hard Metal Fest, in Mangualde, at the Centro Cultural de Santo André. Doors are set to open at 3 p.m., with the shows starting half an hour later. Bands in order of appearence are Mons Lvnae, Alcoholocaust, Revolution, Within, Rato Raro, The Godiva, Angriff, Dawn of Tears, Switchtense, Dew Scented, Avulsed and Epping Forest.
In other news, Epping Forest have also celebrated a new endorsement deal with America's Dean Guitars.

Black Tape for a Blue Girl Records with Brian Viglione
Brian Viglione (of The Dresden Dolls' fame) is now Black Tape for a Blue Girl's new percussionist. Brian has been working alongside Sam Rosenthal on the group's forthcoming album, 10 Neurotics, and apparently the new songs are featuring an "aurally lush environment and shape that pushes them beyond their initial versions".
